Serendipity

So my favorite project of the year was the framing of a (for lack of a better term) butterfly carcass.
This gorgeous creature ended it's life right in the front yard of my friend's house.  She walked out
her door and there it was at her feet.  I don't know if this counts as making lemons out of lemonade, but it certainly shows an appreciation for nature and all things beautiful.

I'm incredibly proud of my faux butterfly body.  We chose to separate the wings from the world weary body (Rest In Peace) and I re-created one entirely of sueded matboard and embroidery floss.

Thank you dear swallowtail for giving your life to grace a little girl's wall.
