I've long wanted to espalier a pear tree. My studio has a lovely warm west facing wall on which
I've attempted this. It seemed to be going well for the first few years until my miniature pear suddenly shot up over the top of the roof. I guess a taller ladder is in order. I don't have the hang of when to prune, either. Every spring I dream of a harvest and every fall I'm disappointed. This year, however, one hearty soul escaped my pruning shears and made an appearance well out of reach of the neighborhood children. Isn't it the loveliest thing you've ever seen?
We get to welcome little Oliver to the world this week. He's the long awaited first son of my world famous stretcher. We at the studio willl have to make adjustments to mommyhood, (Kari's only been away for a few days and we already miss her!) but it's an adjustment we're all eager to make.
This piece was done years ago and dug up from an archive. I think it's still lovely. Thank you Maggee for
the submission.
The rest of these are our accomplishments for the week.
Enjoy. We sure did.
Jill

Once again some lovely framing going on at your studio. I bet you do miss Kari. I've seen some fun pics on the Bush blog so I know they'll be missing her too!! Love the pic of your PEAR !!! It's quite rewarding to see YOUR very own fruit isn't it? Hugs dear friend....
Congrats on your lovely pear. Welcome Oliver!! The framing and stitching are stunning as usual.
Congrats on your pear. Gorgeous work as always Jill. Love the Alpha fairies and the birth announcements. The matwork really adds to the pieces and are stunners.
Jill,
I received my A&E and am in awe. They are more beautiful in person, as you know. My nieces will be delighted! Thank you again. :) Wet puppy kisses to your dogs which I am trying to talk the Dear Hubby into getting one someday!Love the Yorkie breed. You can't get more adorable than that!
Great framing as always. I especially loved how you did the mats for the letter fairys. Hmmm I might have to done or 2 after all and have you frame them.
I love the letter fairies and the birth records. So clever!
It all looks lovely, as usual Jill. Great big congrats to Kari and her family! And I'm glad you've got a pear. Generally, with fruit trees it's best to prune in the autumn. Cut back the branches to a fork, and where you cut back on branch, two will grow out next spring. It helps make your trees (or rosebushes) fuller and prettier. If you're pruning in the spring, you're cutting off all the buds so it won't bloom early enough to produce pears!!
I love the alpha fairies so much! I love how you framed them. SWEET!!
Hearty congratulations to Kari and her new bouncing baby boy....
Love your work as usual, especially the Fairy Letters....they are GORGEOUS
Love the BIG photos this week, everything is so clear. I've seen the Letter fairies on the stitcher's pages and love them
The babies are intriguing, they're not twins or siblings, are they cousins?
Oooooo, everything is so wonderful! I love the letter fairies and the birth announcements!
