Where Was I?

My wonderful parents raised me to believe that there's nothing I can't do if I just set my mind to it.  So I've brainwashed myself into being a do-it-yourself-er. What they didn't tell me was that even though I might be able to do anything, I might not ever get really good at it. To take it one step farther, I always believed that if you do anything enough times you'll eventually be skilled at it.  I've spent my whole adult life finding out the hard way that I was wrong.  There are some things that cannot be learned no matter how much you want it.  Some people are just naturally talented at certain things.  It's an amazing blessing to be naturally talented and also love to do the thing you're good at.

This weekend, I learned that I can NEVER become a professional house painter. This spring we had our "carriage house" rebuilt.  (Carriage house is a fancy name for tiny garage residing in an historic neighborhood.)  After the carpenter and brickmason got finished, we were left with eaves that need to be painted.  I consider myself to be fairly skilled with a paintbrush, and I am somewhat experienced because I painted the house when we first bought it, but 8 years later, my body just can't take it!  Standing on a ladder for an extended period of time craning my neck to paint above my head was agony!  So...  Let's just add professional house painter to the long list of things that I can't do to make a living and be grateful that I know how to frame needlework and I love doing it every day!

Now...Where were we?
Oh yes!  Here's what we shipped out the week before last.
Until next time,
Hugs and puppy kisses!
Jill
